Come…and rest a while –

Come…and rest a while –

It being All Souls Day today, it only feels appropriate to share: Mom’s burial was on October 19th, a beautiful crisp fall day, her birthday. There was curiosity and attention to the logistics of how burials happen, wondering who says or does what, what’s underneath the green tarp,…

October and birthday plans –

It’s been about 8 weeks since mom died and life is definitely quite a ride these days. Severe pain began late last night and our surgeon came to speak with us this morning about the gravity of her situation. To say mom has been in agony is an understatement. Her pain is slightly better managed at the moment. Our family is by her side. We are heartbroken and…

Surgery Update –

Surgery Update –

Mom’s surgery took place around 3pm today and she has been in recovery until just a little while ago when she was brought back to her room again. Briefly, we were told it was quite a complicated surgery as there were a number of factors impacting the course of action that the surgeons had to take. Mom had an ileostomy done and we were told not to be surprised if an infection develops at some point in her recovery. Mom’s…
