Curveballs and ironies –

Curveballs and ironies –

The doctor threw a curveball at us on Sunday and rather than a full discharge, offered mom an option of a day pass, with mom needing to return at 10pm. This was an option we hadn’t considered but it was a creative way of addressing mom’s hesitation given a very painful morning. Our family does an annual one week vacation each year by renting out a vacation home. Our house rental week out by Hope this year was to begin…

Ups, downs and gratefulness –

Ups, downs and gratefulness –

Day 8 at the hospital and I’m beginning to think I will miss, just a little, the nice air conditioning in the room. There have been some small but encouraging improvements over the last few days which will hopefully result in mom being discharged, possibly on Sunday. I have to admit that the stay at the hospital has been longer than any of us expected, progress has been slower than what we imagined when mom was first admitted. Somehow it…

The cycle of pain management –

The cycle of pain management –

Bodyguards and blinds –

Mom’s pain is being managed and they are keeping a close eye on her abdomen, to ensure there isn’t a blockage which would be very dangerous. We seem to be in a holding pattern right now. Lots of rest, liquid diet, and various medications. For…

My ways are not your ways –

My ways are not your ways –

Some may call it bad luck, to which I say read this, other may say it just wasn’t meant to be today, to which I say yes that appears to be true, yet others may say that the plans we have aren’t always aligned with the plans that God has, and that He knows what He’s doing and is in control – and that is how I’m looking at it.  Mom and I have had these conversations before – where planned activities or medical treatments have…

An inside peek and the days that follow –

An inside peek and the days that follow –

Mom is on the 2nd cycle of the current chemo, and two out of three treatments of this cycle are behind us. There is one more treatment this Friday, July 13th and then a break for a couple of weeks. Last Friday’s appointment went quite smoothly. Sasha has gone to every chemo treatment so far and this was the first appointment I went to and got to see what happens “on the inside”. It was a gorgeously sunny day and dad, mom and I drove there…
