Mom entered eternity peacefully tonight at 9:04 pm with family by her side. We thank each of you for your prayers. Mom left this world feeling incredibly loved.
It’s very difficult to write this post as it becomes that much more real. Mom has complex complications from her surgery and we are told she will not survive. Severe pain began late last night and our surgeon came to speak with us this morning about the gravity of her situation. To say mom has been in agony is an understatement. Mom’s surgery took place around 3pm today and she has been in recovery until just a little while ago when she was brought back to her room again. Briefly, we were told it was quite a complicated surgery as there were a number of factors impacting the course of action that the surgeons had to take. Mom had an ileostomy done and we were told not to be surprised if an infection develops at some point in her recovery. Mom’s…
Just a quick update today. As many of you know mom has been hospitalized since Aug 1st for treatment and pain related to a bowel obstruction and after several days without much relief and after consultation with another oncologist yesterday and a surgeon today, we have made a family decision to move forward with surgery which may happen anytime in the next 72 hours. We hope and trust that this will help alleviate some of the pain related to mom’s bowel…
It’s been a week since mom was admitted to the hospital, and she continues her stay there – we all do! Chemo is on hold and cannot be resumed unless mom is well enough, and this currently involves her bowel obstruction. She has been on a full liquid diet since last Wednesday in order to aid with the obstruction in her colon.
